A Public Hearing for the proposed sanitary landfill development in Faisalabad was held on September 16, 2025. The project aims to establish a secure and sustainable site for the disposal of municipal solid waste in the city. As per the Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements, the hearing was organized to assess the environmental and social impacts of the project. The session began with project briefing by Mr. Ahsan Bela (Solid Waste Management Expert, PMDFC) on the proposed landfill site. This was followed by an in-depth presentation on the project’s environmental and social dimensions by Ms. Syeda Huma Batool (Deputy Manager, ESM, PMDFC).
The hearing also featured an interactive Q&A session, with active participation from professors, university students, EPA representatives, and Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) officials. The queries were effectively addressed by the PMDFC team, including Mr. Wasif Azhar (Solid Waste Consultant, PMDFC), ensuring constructive engagement with stakeholders.
