Introduction:
The Government of Punjab has taken initiative for improvement of sewerage and storm water drainage system in cities of Punjab. Accordingly, LG&CD Department through Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC), carried out an assessment of the existing sewerage and drainage infrastructure of the 66 cities with the help of Urban Unit data and future requirements with a 25 years’ time frame. To ensure effective and failsafe implementation of this important Program, multiple meetings were conducted chaired by the Minister LG&CDD at LG&CDD & PMDFC office, which were participated by Secretary LG&CDD, Managing Director PMDFC and relevant engineering staff. According, it was decided to establish a Program Management Unit for smooth execution of projects.
Scope of the Work & Salient Features:
Establishment of Program Steering Committee (PSC) at Provincial Lavel, & Program Management Unit (PMU): Provincial level Project Steering Committees (PSC) is established under the chairmanship of Minister LG&CDD to review the overall progress. Project Management Unit (PIU) has been established at provincial level. Program Management Unit (PMU) will be led by Program Director (PD), DPD, APDs and allied staff for implementation of Program. The relevant local government staff, Municipal Officers (I&S), will report directly to the PMU through APDs to ensure execution of the Program. Development of IT Based Monitoring Dashboard, its Supervision, maintenance, troubleshooting and updating will be done by PMDFC. Monitoring & evaluation through IT based Monitoring Dashboard Established in PMU and to monitor all activities of Program through Dashboard and tracking progress and accordingly prepare progress reports for presentation to PSC will be done by PMDFC. The projects will be supervised by Resident Supervision Consultants hired by LG&CD Department at Provincial Level.
