A workshop on Handing-Over Ceremony "Strengthening Local Services: Reflections on Sustainability” was organized jointly by GIZ and PMDFC under LG&CD Department Punjab.The workshop was attended by Secretary Local Government Shakil Ahmed Mian, senior officials, MD PMDFC, and representatives from GIZ.
🔹 It was shared that in Toba Tek Singh, with GIZ’s support, an E-Billing System has been introduced. Citizens are now receiving their water supply bills digitally. This modern initiative has not only increased transparency and public trust but also improved collections—enabling local governments to deliver better municipal services.
🔹 To ensure worker safety, local governments in Sheikhupura, Jhelum, and Toba Tek Singh were provided with sewer safety equipment worth PKR 7 million, protecting sanitation workers in hazardous conditions.
🔹 The workshop also highlighted capacity building, inclusion of women and minorities, and the importance of utilizing local resources effectively for stronger governance.
