Introduction
Local governments (MCs) play a pivotal role in managing urban areas by overseeing municipal services and ensuring the welfare of residents. These services encompass water supply, property management, construction approval. MCs are responsible for the distribution of water, approving construction projects. These services are essential for the local economy and the quality of life, as they generate substantial revenue while maintaining infrastructure and public welfare. conducting a geographical survey to assess existing actual collection and potential revenue optimization streams in selected local governments (MCs) in Punjab. The survey will focus on gathering crucial data regarding individual households, water sales, and e-billing surveys. Additionally, it will provide details about residential or commercial buildings in cases of construction plans surveys.
Survey Objectives
The survey’s objectives were as follows:
- To evaluate potential revenue streams for water sales and construction plans.
- To identify discrepancies, such as unapproved buildings, illegal water connections, and assess compliance with local government (MC) regulations pertaining to water supply and construction permits.
- To provide actionable data for local governments (MCs) to enhance billing and collection processes.
