A meeting was held at the PMDFC office under the chairmanship of the Honourable Minister, Local Government and Community Development Department (LG&CDD) to review the progress of the Chief Minister’s Punjab Cities Development Program. The meeting was attended by the Secretary LG&CDD and senior PMDFC officials, including Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz, GM Institutional Development Mahmood Masood Tamana, GM Engineering Adnan Nisar Khan, and SPO ID Muazam Jamil Malik.
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued special directives to resolve municipal issues across 169 cities of Punjab. For the first time, dedicated projects are being designed for each city's rainwater storage and sewerage systems. These initiatives will ensure that contaminated sewage water does not mix with underground drinking water sources.
During the briefing, officials underscored major initiatives, notably the pioneering installation of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) protection liners within RCC sewer pipes. This technological advancement is projected to extend the service life of the pipes from 30 years to over 100 years, while substantially minimizing sewer blockages and enhancing the efficiency and reliability of sanitation services.
