The Municipal Committee of Toba Tek Singh, with support from the Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC) and the German Development Agency (GIZ), conducted a training session on the Operational Health & Safety for The Sanitary Workers. This training, aimed at improving worker safety, also included the distribution of a booklet containing SOPs on Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
Over 50 male and female sanitary workers attended the session, where they learned proper handling techniques for protective gear such as specialized gear, oxygen cylinders, ventilation systems, and helmets. Led by expert trainer Rizwana Anjum, the training focused on safe waste management practices while following health and safety standards. Trainer Zafar Iqbal conducted practical demonstrations, helping workers familiarize themselves with the equipment.
Mr. Mahmood Masood Tamana, GM (ID) expressed appreciation for GIZ's support, underscoring that prioritizing worker protection is essential for providing quality municipal services. He noted that equipping workers with the necessary safety knowledge and tools reflects a firm commitment to improving municipal services while safeguarding workers’ well-being.
