Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC) held its 26th Annual General Meeting, chaired by Parvez Iqbal and attended by Special Secretary Aasia Gul along with civil society and Government department representatives of the General Body. MD Syed Zahid Aziz presented updates, including a PKR 500 million investment in Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) for Faisalabad and Gujranwala to boost waste management, recycling, and job creation.
He also noted the progress of floating wetland installations in Rajanpur for natural pond cleaning, with support from UNICEF. Under the Punjab Cities Program, over PKR 20 billion is being invested in water and sewerage projects across 16 cities, nearing completion with World Bank assistance. Furthermore, a project to strengthen the local governments in Lahore, Jhelum, Toba Tek Singh, and Sheikhupura is also in its final phase. Under this GIZ-funded initiatives trainings for more than 500 MC staff on Public Service Ethics, Occupational Health & Safety for Sanitary Workers, RTI Act 2013, Environment Management in Municipal Service Delivery and preparation of a comprehensive compendium on the municipal laws have been completed successfully.
The meeting approved the Directors’ Report, Audit Report, Budget, and the Auditors' Firm, with active participation from civil society and government institution representatives, who contributed valuable suggestions.
