Training on Punjab Transparency and Right to Information Act 2013 Held for Local Government Officers

A training session on the Punjab Transparency and Right to Information Act 2013 was held today, attended by over 70 Deputy and Assistant Directors, Chief Officers, and Municipal Officers from across Punjab. This session marks the first in a series of training workshops aimed at strengthening local governance through enhanced transparency and service delivery. The training is part of the GIZ-funded project to support local government services in the province. Justice (R) Ali Akbar Qureshi, Additional Session Judge Zafar Iqbal, Chairman PMDFC Parvez Iqbal were among the distinguished attendees. They were joined by Nauman Nazir, Director of Training & Awareness, and Qadeer Ahmad, Registrar of the Punjab Information Commission, who led insightful sessions on the key provisions and implementation of the RTI Act. Sanam Irshad, Advisor on Local Governance from GIZ, also attended the event. The workshop provided local government officials with a deeper understanding of the RTI Act, emphasizing the importance of transparency, accountability, and timely access to information for citizens.
