A high-level Nigerian delegation visiting Pakistan visited the ongoing projects under the Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company. The delegation included the team of the World Bank-funded multi-sectoral crisis recovery project in Nigeria and other government officials. Assistant Commissioner/Administrator Muridke Mr. Shaukat Masih welcomed the delegation at the municipal committee office. While Mr. Hasnain Hafeez Municipal Officer Muridke briefed the delegation on ongoing projects under the Punjab Cities Program. Speaking on the occasion, Administrator Muridke said that under the Punjab Cities Program, many works have been done for public welfare in collaboration with the Municipal Committee Muridke, including infrastructure projects as well as for timely and better awareness and transparency to the public, Important steps like Grievance Redress System and Dynamic Website for redressal of public grievances are also taken. While briefing the delegation, the municipal officer said that the projects of parking shed, solid waste management machinery, park and roads have been completed under the Punjab Cities Program. While other projects are in the final stages of completion. The successful completion of these projects has improved the delivery of municipal services to the citizens and thanks to the solid waste management machinery provided under the Punjab Cities Program, about 80 percent of the garbage is now being collected from the city the municipal officer further said. With the construction of Urban Roads, where the citizens will get better travel facilities, the economy will also improve due to better transportation of goods and crops/vegetables. After the briefing, the delegation visited Zafar Chattha Park, Solid Waste Forensic Laboratory and tough pavers at Main Bazaar. Where they were given a detailed briefing about the working of these projects, the participants of the delegation said that this has proved to be an excellent informative visit and we received important information about municipal service delivery and related institutions. They can adopt the best practices in their country and mutual cooperation regarding municipal service delivery will continue. At the end of the ceremony, the participants of the delegation were also presented souvenirs.
