Today (27-03-2024), a delegation consisting of Mr. Gailius Draugelis, Operations Manager, Mr. Abedalrazq Kahalil, Urban Manager South Asia Region, and Ms. Shahnaz Arshad, Senior Urban Specialist from The World Bank visited the PMDFC head office. The delegation was welcomed by Syed Zahid Aziz, MD PMDFC, who provided a comprehensive briefing on various initiatives undertaken by PMDFC, including the implementation of floating wetlands, the Strengthening of Local Governments Project, and the Punjab Cities Program.
During the presentation, it was highlighted that infrastructure projects such as sewerage systems, Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP), water supply networks, parks, and roads are currently being executed across 16 partner Municipal Committees (MCs) under the Punjab Cities Program. Additionally, innovative approaches like solarization of disposal stations, utilization of composite material manhole covers, implementation of SCADA systems, and construction of rainwater storage reservoirs are being adopted to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
The visiting delegates expressed their satisfaction with the progress achieved thus far. They also emphasized the importance of scaling up the adoption of best practices in infrastructure development and leveraging e-governance tools to enhance the standard of municipal service delivery throughout the province.
In addition to the delegates, the meeting was attended by several key officials including Mr. Mahmood Masood Tamana, GM ID, Mr. Adnan Nisar - GM Engg/DPD, Mr. Muazzam Jamil Malik - SPO ID, Mr. Zohaib Butt, SPO Procurement, Mr. Nauman Akhter, SPO FM, and Ms. Rizwana Anjum - SPO E&S.
