Progress Review Meeting of Punjab Cities Program (PCP) with Special Secretary, Local Government & Community Development Department (LG&CDD)

The senior management of PMDFC headed by Muhammad Aamer Nazeer, Managing Director held a meeting with Babar Aman Babar, Special Secretary, Local Government & Community Development Department (LG&CDD). The meeting was also attended by Rao Imtiaz Ahmad, Additional Secretary Development, LG&CDD.

MD, PMDFC presented the progress of various activities taking place as part of Punjab Cities Program (PCP).

The Special Secretary, LG&CDD appreciated PMDFC’s efforts to fulfill the Disbursement Linked Indicators (DLIs) in a timely fashion and for meeting the World Bank requirements for the release of funds amounting to US$ 42.64 million.

MD, PMDFC also informed the Special Secretary, LG&CDD that all PCP procurements were in-line with the World Bank Procurement Regulations.

It was urged that the interventions being implemented under PCP to fulfill the program DLIs need to be institutionalized and provided mandatory legal cover.

The Special Secretary, LG&CDD advised the PMDFC team to develop revenue enhancement plans for partner MCs for the current financial year (FY 2020-21). The move will provide a strategic framework for the self-sustenance of MCs.

It was also observed that there is immense potential to promote energy conservation strategies such as solar tube wells and solarization of water filtration plants in partner MCs.

The Special Secretary, LG&CDD also emphasized the importance of sectoral planning to avoid wastage of resources in piecemeal development.
