On December 16, 2025, a meeting was held at the Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC) to formalize a collaborative partnership with WWF-Pakistan for the upscaling of the Hudiara Drain. This collaboration builds upon the PMDFC's pilot intervention at Hudiara drain (500-meter section) by the installation of Floating Wetlands financed by UNICEF with co-funding by the University of Lahore (UOL). The meeting was attended by Mr. Syed Zahid Aziz (Managing Director, PMDFC), Mr. Adnan Nisar Khan (GM Engineering, PMDFC), Mr. Muhammad Nauman Azhar (Deputy Manager - Engineering, PMDFC), Mr. Sohail Ali Naqvi (Director Freshwater Programme, WWF-Pakistan), and Mr. Arjmand Qayyum Amjad (Senior Manager, WWF-Pakistan). WWF intends to expand the Hudiara Drain Project through the addition of 100 sheets of Floating Wetlands, with a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed subsequently. This planned expansion marks a critical step in scaling up nature-based solutions to improve the Hudiara Drain's water quality.
