A coordination meeting between Aguas de Portugal (AdP), WASA Lahore, and the Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC) was held today. The collaboration—part of the upcoming World Bank–funded Punjab Inclusive Cities Program (PICP)—aims to enhance municipal water and sanitation service delivery through institutional mentorship, technical assistance, exchange visits, and hands-on training programs for local WATSAN teams.
This meeting took place in response to AdP’s formal invitation to submit a detailed Stage-2 proposal for the Water Operators Partnership framework. Under this next phase, Aguas de Portugal will serve as the international mentor, with WASA Lahore and PMDFC acting as co-mentors to guide the capacity strengthening of newly established WATSAN units at MC Kasur, Chiniot, and Sadiq Abad.
Discussions focused on finalizing the Stage-2 roadmap, including PMDFC’s intent to proceed, and preparations for the upcoming Diagnostic and Enabling Visit (DEV Mission) scheduled for January 2026. This visit will help assess operational gaps and design a targeted capacity-building plan aligned with international best practices.
From PMDFC, the meeting was attended by Syed Zahid Aziz (MD PMDFC), Mahmood Masood Tamana (GM-ID), and Adnan Nisar Khan (GM Engineering). The AdP international team, including Nuno D’Orey Assunção, Antonio Ventura, Andrew Donnelly, and Luis Alvarez, attended while representative of WASA Lahore also participated.
