A meeting was held today at the Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC) office with representatives from Aguas de Portugal—a Portuguese state-owned utility operating in the water and sanitation (WATSAN) sector. Representatives from WASA also participated in the meeting.
From PMDFC, the meeting was attended by Syed Zahid Aziz, Managing Director PMDFC; Mahmood Masood Tamana, General Manager (Institutional Development); and Muazzam Jamil Malik, Senior Program Officer (Institutional Development).
The discussions focused on a proposed mentorship and capacity-building arrangement under the upcoming World Bank–funded Punjab Inclusive Cities Program (PICP). Under this initiative, Aguas de Portugal would serve as the international mentor, while WASA Lahore and PMDFC would act as co-mentors, supporting Municipal Committees Chiniot, Sadiqabad, and Kasur as mentees.
The collaboration aims to strengthen institutional capacity and enhance effective service delivery in the water and sanitation (WATSAN) sector through exchange visits, technical assistance, and specialized training programs for relevant municipal staff.
