A delegation, led by Dr. Naeem Rauf, Chairman Planning & Development Board, along with Mian Shakeel Ahmad, Secretary Local Government & Community Development Department, and Mahmood Masood Tamana, GM (ID) PMDFC, visited the headquarters of GIZ in Frankfurt, Germany, where they met with the organization’s Country Director and senior leadership.
The visiting delegation also included representatives from GIZ Pakistan — Asim Shafi, Program Component Manager; Zubair Kamal Khan, Head of Finance and Administration; and Palwasha Kakakhel, Communication Specialist — who joined the discussions to further align ongoing initiatives between GIZ and the Government of Punjab.
The meeting focused on strengthening local governance frameworks and exploring innovative approaches in sanitation, solid waste management, waste-to-energy initiatives, and recycling systems. Both sides exchanged ideas on sustainable urban solutions and future collaboration opportunities.
Dr. Naeem Rauf emphasized that the insights and best practices shared during the visit will be adapted in Punjab to enhance municipal services and improve citizens’ quality of life.
