Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC), in collaboration with the World Bank, organized Preparatory Consultative Workshop on the Punjab Inclusive Cities Program (PICP). The event brought together Administrators, Chief Officers, and Municipal Officers (Services, Planning, Infrastructure & Finance) from 14 local governments across Punjab.
Secretary Local Government, Mian Shakeel Ahmad, emphasized that sewerage, water supply, and solid waste management projects under PICP will reduce the spread of waterborne diseases—ultimately improving child health and reducing stunting.
MD PMDFC, Syed Zahid Aziz, shared that the program includes the construction of stormwater drains and underground storage tanks for rapid drainage, as well as the development of engineered landfill sites in Jhang and the use of modern waste management technologies.
The session was also attended by the World Bank team, Special Secretary LG, PMDFC Board Members, and technical experts. Participants were briefed on the program's funding mechanism, monitoring framework, and environmental and social safeguards.
