2nd Project Coordination Committee meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Shakil Ahmad Mian, Sec LG&CDD, to review the progress of the GIZ-funded initiative, "Support to Strengthen the Local Services by Local Governments."
During the meeting, the Secretary commended the progress and achievements made so far under the initiative. Key decisions were taken, including the approval for the provision of Sewer Safety Equipment to three partner Local Governments (MC Toba Tek Singh, Sheikhupura, and Jhelum), the establishment of a Secretariat for the Local Government Training Institutes (LGTIs) Network at NCRD Islamabad, and the implementation of a Water Supply E-Billing System in MC Toba Tek Singh. The Secretary directed that these activities be completed by June 2025.
Furthermore, the secretary instructed that a debriefing session on the International Study Tour of Rwanda on Inclusive Municipal Service Delivery should be organized to share key learnings and best practices.
The meeting was attended by Asia Gul, SS (Dev); Ahmar Sohail Kaifi, AS Dev: Abrar Ahmad, Director Legal from LG&CDD; Asim Shafi, Team Lead; Sanam Irshad, Advisor LG from GIZ; while, Mahmood Masood Tamana, GM ID; and Sohaib Rafique, DM ID from PMDFC.
