PMDFC Explores Innovative Wastewater Treatment Technology by BioCleaner Incorporated
Lahore 3 February: Mr Eros Kaw, Chief Tech Support, BioCleaner Incorporated called on Syed Zahid Aziz, Managing Director of the Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company (PMDFC), today to present an overview of the company’s innovative wastewater treatment technology and its potential application across Punjab.
During the meeting, the BioCleaner representative explained the working of the company’s patented US-based technology, which uses specialized biological processes to treat wastewater efficiently. The system relies on controlled aeration to activate beneficial microbes that digest organic pollutants present in sewage. According to the presentation, the technology significantly reduces Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) by accelerating the breakdown of organic matter, making wastewater safer for discharge or reuse.
It was shared that the BioCleaner system uses a high concentration of productive microbes, which once inoculated, continuously work to improve water quality. The process is designed to treat substantial pollutant loads on a daily basis and can be applied to treat wastewater. The technology is already being used internationally for residential, commercial, and municipal wastewater treatment plants.
Syed Zahid Aziz showed keen interest in the presented technology and appreciated its potential as a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for wastewater management. He expressed PMDFC’s willingness to explore pilot testing of the BioCleaner system under real field conditions to assess its suitability for local contexts in Punjab.
PMDFC has a strong track record of introducing and scaling innovative wastewater treatment solutions in the province. The organization has previously implemented nature-based treatment methods such as floating wetlands, where wastewater is naturally treated through selected plant species. These floating wetlands have been successfully installed in wastewater ponds in Sheikhupura, Rajanpur, and Kasur, as well as in the flowing wastewater of the Hudiara Drain in Lahore, delivering highly promising results for water quality improvement and environmental sustainability.
Building on these successful interventions, PMDFC is now planning to evaluate the BioCleaner technology as an additional treatment option while improving environmental and public health outcomes.
